Free soda

So the other day a friend of mine and I decided to go on an adventure throughout Richmond. As we began our adventure down W Grace taking turns puffing on a black & mild, we started having the most in depth conversations about the human mind and evolution. So in depth in fact that we eventually found ourselves outside of a church, staring at what seemed to be a mirage. A top the steps in front of us lay three bottles of soda with the words, “free soda”, hand written on them. Now this so called “free soda” was looking mighty fine to me on account of my mouth was completely dry due to the black & mild.We stared for a while thinking it the most peculiar thing. I mean after all, who picks up free soda off the street these days? I glanced up to see a man with a guitar making his way out of the building, and with that came opportunity. We were quick to ask this guitar carrying man if he knew anything about the free soda which stood between us. To our surprise, the church had just finished having a party and put the left over soda out for anyone who wanted it. That being said, my friend grabbed one while I grabbed another. I guess good things really do come to those who wait.

So my wonderful F.I. teacher somehow got her hands on a bunch of free tickets to a Shadows Fall show tonight. Needless to say I was beyond stoked when she gave them out at the end of class. Then come to find out Arsis and Kataklysm are playing with them as well. So fucking stoked for the night!

Small World

It really is a small world out there. Recently we had a new student move into my dorm and within the past few weeks he’s become part of my group of friends around here. Just the other day we were at a party on Belle Isle when he was telling me he found my cell number in his phone. At that moment my friend and I froze for a split second before getting extremely excited and bursting out with laughter. Come to find out I had run into him earlier in the year on one of my photo adventures. He had seen my camera around my neck and named a few spots he thought would be amazing to photograph. We got talking and he gave me his number in case forgot any of them. I had forgotten about that random run-in until then. It’s amazing how much we’re connected together without realizing it.

The Haunted Hall

We all have those days where it seems like the day merely consists of a string of coincidental events. Well the other night as I was walking home from Shafer with a couple of friends we heard what we thought was the GRC fire alarm going off once more. As we got closer and closer we realized it wasn’t our beloved dorm but rather something down the street from us. We made it a mission to find the cause of all the racket. Practically doing a circle around campus we ended up at the old business building.  There were people belly dancing and smoking hookah outside the commons across from it but other than that there was literally no activity near the building. No smoke, no smell and one giant mystery as to what set the alarm off. We decided to wait and see how long it took the fire dept. to arrive on scene. We beat them there by about 15 minutes and eventually they got the thing to shut up. As we sat there conversing I thought to myself, “Wouldn’t that be some shit if the alarm went off again.” Well, needless to say, it did. No more than 5 minutes after the fire dept. left, Harris Hall was raising hell again.

Why?!

Why do they close Shafer so early on fridays?! The one night out of the week where at the end of the night everyone is looking to get food. It just makes no sense whatsoever!

Life is pretty good right now. My friends aren’t as troubled as they were earlier in the year. It was really eating me up watching everyone in my life either fall apart or vanish. Looking back on this year so many things have happened to us yet here we stand, stronger than ever before. I’d like to think that this is the way things will be from now on, but I know very well how uncertain the future can be. For now I’m just thankful everyone has gotten their lives back together and on the right track. I’m so happy with life right now, I couldn’t possibly be any more thankful.
